Collections, Lots Coins: World Coins & Paper Money

It may seem counter-intuitive, but one possible place to start looking for collections or lots is coin shops, sometimes they come into large collections, and sometimes they sell coin collections or lots on a consignment basis. Coins shows are a great idea. Not only will you find dealers selling entire collections or large lots of coins, you may find individuals doing so as well. Coins can be obtained mail order from dealers found on the internet or in advertisements in the backs of coin collecting magazines. The selection, not surprisingly, is vast, and you most likely can find a better price if you shop around. All too often however, over-graded coins or problem coins are sold mail order, so make sure whatever dealer you talk to has a fair return policy.

 

Collecting coins in collections or lots often involves bidding on large collections. You can do this by attending live auctions or by bidding on online auctions. Many collectors prefer online auctions because an online auction gives you access to collections and lots for sale from all over the world, and do not depend on the seller’s geographical location.
